Welcome to August 2025, The Lions Gate Portal and the 2nd half of this month’s wellness focus. Our 1st focus this month is Water but I am introducing Goddess Tauret, one of the lesser known Ancient Egyptian Goddesses of the Divine Mystery Schools. She is dear to my heart and has come forward this month; I believe; to escort us through the Lions Gate Portal on 8th August.
What is the Lions Gate Portal?

Lion’s Gate is officially on the 8th of August but I feel the energy has been building since the Leo new moon on the 24th July. This is a period when we are invited to reflect on the year so far, face any fears of unworthiness & move forward in love. Put simply it is a great time to set intentions and manifest.
In ancient Egypt, the Lions Gate Portal was celebrated from around 28th July – 12th August. It is an annual astrological event that happens when Earth and Sirius Star system are perfectly aligned with each other. I am not an astrologer but my understanding is that Leo energy teaches us to feel more comfortable with being seen for our natural gifts and talents, helps us step into personal authenticity and embrace self responsibility. Remember, powerful energy shifts create waves which we can ride to move forward – freeing us from old ways and enabling possibility and positivity.
Who is Goddess Tauret/Taweret?
One of the 1st Goddesses who I connected with. As many of you know for many years my area of clinical practice has been supporting reproductive health issues and it was Goddess Tauret whom I channelled my Creation Fertility oracle cards through. These days, I use my oracle cards for wellness readings although my cards are still available to purchase!
Tauret is the Soul Midwife and her regenerative abilities are associated with “rights of passage”
She is a Goddess of fertility, pregnancy, children, working motherhood and red tents.
Soul Midwife – /birth/death/re-birth. As a soul midwife she enables safe passage to the afterlife or bring back the deceased.
She is associated with the Divine Mystery School and Isis.
Protector of working women.
Household goddess.
Guardian of the otherworlds.
Ferocious guardian and nurturing deity.
She is a Goddess of healing, medicine and holder of the Sa and Ankh.
She is known to cleanse and purify.
She is also known by similar names including Taweret, Tauret, Taueret, Tawret, Ipet “harem”, Apet, Opet, Reret “the sow”; Ririt; The Great Female; the Great One; She Who Is Mighty, Lady of Magical Protection, Mistress of the Horizon, She Who Removes Water, Lady of the Birth House
Tauret’s Symbolism:
Sa: protection Anhk: life
Solar Disk: Hathoric Sun God and power
Pregnant belly: pregnancy and childbearing, breasts – source of life and the Goddess.
Crocodile: Feared by Egyptians crocodiles represent wisdom, protection, & ancient knowledge; the Egyptian Mystery School, esoteric study, determination, patience, healing, overcoming fear, renewal and growth and gatekeeper to otherworlds.
Hippopotamus: Feared by the Ancient Egyptians hippos are the protectors of rivers, water & gatekeepers to otherworlds. They used to live in the Nile River which was called The Source of Life. Their symbolism is associated with water, fertility and dragon spirit energy . They submerge in water to avoid predators surfacing only to breathe, then sink again. This “disappearing and reappearing” represents regeneration and rebirth. They are a living example of Taweret’s power, strength & wisdom.
Lioness: Fierce protectors of the family. Represent the matriarch, courage, intuition, action, power, grace and strength. She is a reminder that you hold the power to overcome any obstacle within; the Divine Sisterhood – women supporting women – female power.
