Winter cleanse – 7 days cleanse with Justine Evans ND

This winter  cleanse is perfect if you are feeling “post Christmas” cold, heavy, lethargic, sluggish, tired, bloated and depleted. In Ayurvedic terms we call this “Kapha”. This short cleanse is a perfect “pick me up” to restore a little balance! It’s “Justine style” so not specifically Ayurvedic although we are increasing “agni” (digestive fire); eating plenty of  warming seasonal veggies, cleansing Kriya breaths to help restore balance. There’s not too much cooking and for 3 days the food is similar so if you have a slow cooker , a juicer or a blender it will be easy for you. All you need to do is have some time and buy some fresh food. Don’t worry I will let you know what you need to buy food wise. We begin

A simple winter cleanse which covers 7 days to  allow time to settle into a cleanse and gently prepare for a more intensive 3 days “colon cleansing”

Winter cleanse 2024

My winter  cleanse is perfect when you are feeling “post Christmas” cold, heavy, lethargic, sluggish, tired, bloated and depleted or if you like to cleanse with the seasons.  In Ayurvedic terms we call this feeling of heaviness “kapha”. This short 7 DAY winter cleanse is a perfect “pick me up”; helps restore balance in your life and provides an essential bowel cleanse to support and maintain your health.  The body cannot cleanse if the bowel cannot flow! 

My winter cleanse is “Justine style” so not specifically Ayurvedic although we are increasing “agni” (digestive fire); eating plenty of  warming seasonal veggies,   and using cleansing Kriya breaths with yin yoga to restore  digestion and hormonal balance.  PLUS, it includes my health screening via hair analysis for digestive and metabolic imbalances.  

Why cleanse with the seasons? 

Because Mother Gaia provides us with all the foods we need during each season to maintain our microbiome!  During the winter mother nature naturally provides foods high in pre-biotics to feed the bacteria which reside in our bodies.

When we flow with the seasons we can reflect on what may be out of balance in our lives and take steps to restore equilibrium (also called homeostasis). This connects with both our emotional and physical health.

Naturopathic and most traditional healing methods including Ayurveda recommend seasonal cleansing  to release  the physical and emotional toxicities we may have accumulated during the prior months.  This helps encourage our  physical and emotional body to return to a natural state of balance so we flow with vitality.

My naturopathic approach focus on cleansing specific organs with the seasons

Winter:  The colon and rectum play a vital role in the digestion process.  My winter cleanse focuses on vegetables and pulses which strengthen digestive fire.  We will be avoiding processed foods, refined carbohydrates, dairy and animal products.  I show you how to eat mindfully and  appreciate the nourishment food is giving you.

Spring:  Working with equinox energy we focus on the liver

Summer: utilising the warmth of the sun and abundance of nature we cleanse with raw foods to support kidneys and our full body

Autumn: once more connecting with equinox energy we focus on the lymphatic and spleen energy to prepare for the winter months ahead and boost immunity.

I will be encouraging fresh seasonal vegetarian foods which are easy to cook and prepare but have plenty of prebiotic and fibre to support a healthy bowel, support the microbiome and feed the colon.  Honestly, there’s not too much cooking and for 3 days the food will be similar so if you have a slow cooker , a juicer or a blender it will be a cinch!  All you need to do is have some time for self-care and be happy to avoid dairy, gluten and be vegetarian for 7 days.
